The "Herald's" special correspondent writing from Orange River on February 2nd, soys that a trooper of the Household Cavalry was wounded near Rendsburg, and the New Zealand doctor went out with the Red Cross flagto look for him. lie went to within a quarter of a mile of the Boers, who made no, sign, but when the troops came up to within a thousand yards or ,Ilfc hill it suddenly bristled with Boc*rs, who began to shoot over the doctor's head at the troops beyond. This made things exciting- for the medico, but .he was not touched, and found the wounded man all right. The doctor has several times shown great coolness under fire.
The correspondent gives a. gloomy description of the mortality amongst the horses.
