GREY LYNN.

The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the members of the. Grey Lynn Borough Council was held last evening, when there were present: The Mayor (Mr E. T. Warnock), Crs. J. Farrell, F. Smith, W. Brinsden, J. Eosser, S. G. Ambury, W. Priestly. Sussex-street.—Mr W. Duncan asked that Sussex-street footpath be tarred and sanded as far as Murdock Eoad. It was resolved to reply that the Council could not undertake any new tarring and sanding this season. Water Supply.—The Town Clerk, 'Auckland, wrote stating the Council would grant water supply for Eichmond Ward as requested upon the usual terms. The Mayor, on behalf of the Richmond Ward members, reported that there was every prospect of ithe price of pipes coming down shortly. The members therefore recommended that the matter of supplying •water to the Eichmond Ward be deferred for the present. The adoption of this course was agreed to. Fire Brigade.—The Arch Hill Eoad Board wrote reporting-, they had now a fully-equipped Fire Brigade and station on the Great North Eoad. The Board had instructed its Brigade to attend fires' in the Grey Lynn Bor-

ough when nearer ythe Arch Hill station than that of Grey Lynn. The Board suggested that Captain Fenton of the Grey Lynn Brigade be also Superintendent of the Arch Hill Brigade. If that was agreed to a hydrant would be required to fit the Grey Lynn plugs. Cr. Brinsden moved that the letter be received, which w.as agreed to. It was then referred to the Legal .Committee to report. ) License.—Messrs E. and W. Hellaby ■wrote applying for a ■ license to slaughter cattle at Mrs Faulder's slaughter - house, Eichmond. Cr. Ambury moved that the application be refused, as he considered the place was not at present in a fit state for the work. He understood Messrs Hellaby Bros, did not intend to slaughter at that place, but the Council had no right to grant a license for a place Avhere there was at present no water. The motion was agreed to.. Accounts to the extent of £254 19/ were passed for payment.
