WELLINGTON, this day
Mr J. C. Martin, Public Trustee, is expected to return from England about the middle of December.
Influenza: is spreading in Wellington, and there is hardly a Government department or business establishment of any size in the city which is not being inconvenienced by the epidemic. Amongst those .who are laid up are Messrs J. K. Warburton (Controller- , General). Mr S. Percy Smith (Sur-veyor-General), and several telegraph operators; Mr J.C. Gavin. (Assistant Controller-General), who was affected for some days, is able to resume duty, but is still very weak; _-!> C.A. Hickson (Commissioner of Stamps) is mak,ing an excellent recovery.
