ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
The ordinary meeting of the Council of tlie Auckland Acclimatisation Society was held at the Museum Buildings yesterday afternoon. Mr J. Bnrtt, president, occupied tlie chair, and Messrs A. Bull, J. It. Bluonifleld, and C. Whitney were also protent. Finance.—The monthly financial statement showed that receipt-, including a balance of £_05 10/10, amounted to i'ST- 19/10, and the expenditure to £19 1/6, leaving a credit: balance of £353 15/4. There was also a credit balance ot £107 S/-1 in the Savings Bank. The amount received for shooting licenses this year was £365, being £33 less than for last year. The estimated receipts and expenditure from September 1 to July 1, 1900, showed that the receipts would amount to about £709 IG/8, and tlie expenditure to about £049, after providing for all contingencies, leaving a balance of £110 16/8. fish.—The Fish Commission-!- of New South Wales wrote stating that tlie last consignment of 20,000 ova arrived in excellent condition. The Inspector of Fisheries reported that the consignment was the best received, and recommended that future orders should he given to the Auckland Society. liatchcrj".—The report of the Curator of I tie Waimakiriri Hatchery was read. It stated that 350,000 ova had been taken during the year, and of these _!02,50i) had been sent away. Ho estimated the supply of fry at about 100,000. Fry. -The Fish Committee was Instructed to make arrangements for the annual distribution of fry throughout the streams of the district. Applications for fry from Waihi, Orewa, Helena Buy, aud the Thames were granted. Reward.—The constable at. Ngarunwahia claimed the reward for securing convictions for shooting without a license. It was decided to pay the claim. Fishing Season.—lt was decided to endeavour to have tlie dates for the opening of the fishing season for Auckland altered lo November 1, aud tho closing date to April 13.
