UNION FREE BAPTIST CHURCH
The sixth anniversary of the Children's Home in connection with the Union Free Baptist Church was further celebrated last evening in the Union Free Baptist Church, Wellesley-street. A large number sat down to tea. .Mr I). Goldie (the Mayor) presided at the after-meeting. Mr F. M. Hay, lion, secretary, read the annual report of lite Children's Home, which showed that _!0 children are being eared for. Two had died during the year, and six had been admitted, all motherless, neglected, and destitute. Miss Carnle (matron) and Miss Hamilton (assistant) were in charge of the children, and were performing their duties with zeal and ability. Mrs Salter, treasurer, read her report, which showed that £_.'!_ _!/!_ had been received for current expenses, and i_lS 3/oA .expended, showing £_!0 18/10 credit balance. The new building fund account presented by Mr Hay showed that £348 ()/__ had been collected during Hie past three years, and £.'!39 10/1 expended, showing a credit balance of £8 4/-_. The committee had purchased land iv Ver-mont-street costing £450, of which £300 had been paid off, leaving a balance of £100 to clear off before.they would proceed to build. The Mayor donated £5 towards the new building fund, aud the urgent need for more < ommodious premises to shelter the neglected little ones emboldens the Bndics' Committee to solicit the support of a generous public towards paying off tho £150. The Revs. A. 11. Collins, W. Ready, and W. L. Salter addressed the meeting. At the conclusion votes of thanks were accorded to fiie Mayor and to all who assisted to make the meeting such a great success.
