Particulars of the items of increase were given, and the writer added: "A good many of the items have now been inspected and passed by the Admiralty officer, and we shall be arranging for their shipment by an early opportunity. We shall also be sendiiig- you very shortly a set of tracings and specifications, covering all the items on order, so that you may have all the information before you. We are asked by the Admiralty to. inform you that provision must be made in the building at Auckland to take the top brackets of the crane posts." A request was received that in the works at Calliope Dock colonial cement be used.
At the meeting of the Board this afternoon the chairman (Mr Niccol) stated that the Engineer (Mr ,-Metcalfe) had commenced taking borings and was making all possible arrangements to prevent delay. The matter of using only colonial cement was referred to the Woriks and Tariff Committee, the Engineer to report. The opinion was expressed that, where articles ~ were equal those locally made should be utilised. j i
