BOWLING.
The annual meeting of members of the Mt. Eden Bowling Club took place last evening in the club's pavilion, Mt. Eden Eoad, Mr E. Mahony (president) presided. Mr C. G. Brookes (secretary) read the annual report Reference was made to the loss of two enthusiastic bowlers, Mr D. 15. Millar, junior vice-president, and h. Andrews, hon. treasurer, through change of residence. Owing to the exertions of the green superintendent (Air Burns) and some other friends, the green during the coming season would be in excellent condition. The thanks of the club were due to the ladies who had Saturday after Saturday attended to the refreshment department; and also to Mr A. Robins, for the handsome flag of the clubs colours which he had presented to the members, and to the trustees of St. Barnabas' Church for the free use of the hall and piano at the annual concert of the club. There were 39 playing members, and 2 honorary. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to be £408 8/11, and after de--1 fraying expenditure there was a credit balance of £2 1/11. A debenture fund was opened, and £80 worth of debentures taken up by the members. The following were the officers elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mr E. Mahony (re-elected); senior vice-president, Mr Morran (reelected); junior vice-president, Mr I Geo. Thwaites; secretary, Mr C. G. Brookes (re-elected); treasurer, Mr Newman; auditor, Mr Gray; committee, Messrs Hooper, Garland, Ross, Hudson, Simpson; green superintendent, Mr Burns. Mr Ross was elected delegate to the Auckland Bowling Association, and Mr L. Andrews delegate to the Northern Bowling Association. The president then presented the prizes to the successful competitors, with a few appropriate remarks, as follows:—First year's players: Trophy presented by Mr D. B. Millar, won by Mr E. B. Simpson, with T. Jones runner-up. Handicap singles: Pair bowls, presented by Mr Mahony, first prize, and trophy, presented by Mr Ballin, second prize—won by H. 0. Brown, and H. H. Plaw being second. Prize pairs: Pair bowls, presented by Mr J. M. Morran, and gold medal presented by the club, won by Messrs W. Eady and E. B. Simpson (skip), the runners-up being Messrs Jones and Robins. Champion singles: Pair bowls presented by Mr E. Mahony for winner, and trophy presented by Mr J. Pooley for runner-up, won by C. G. Brookes, and D. Ferguson securing second honours. Fours: Pair silvermounted bowls and case, presented by Messrs Dewar and Sons, trophy by Mr L. Kneebone, and two trophies out of prize-money, won by^ Messrs S. Gray, J. A. James, L. Andrews, and C. G. Brookes (skip). The team presented the skip with the bowls. Mr Andrews has already' received his trophy, and Mr Gray has handed the value of his prize to the funds of the club.
