PROMOTIONS OF TEACHERS.
LIST IN- THE "GAZETTE."
The "N.Z. Gazette" of June 29- contains a list of school teachers of the colony. Reasons for promotion are indicated by the letters E, M, S, which stand respectively for examination, marks, awarded by an inspector, and length of service. In the summary at the ' end of the list certificated and licensed teachers are classified as employed or Unemployed. There are 1,923 certificated teachers unemployed in teaching.. Among them are 611 married women, and a large number of teachers who have gone into business, or retired from active service, or left the colony.
