At a meeting of bicycle traders held last evening in the social-room of the. Auckland Cycling Club, Pitt-street, it was resolved to form-a branch of the NiZ. Cycle Traders' Association in Auckland. Mr Wm. Service was. elected Chairman of Committee, and Mr P. A. Smith secretary and treasurer. Messrs W. PilkingtOn, E. Bockeart and D. Crozier.were elected an Executive Committee. ' : '
It is'understood that Mr John Cooin, inspecting engineer of the " Railway Department, who has been appointed Chief engineer will be succeeded as inspecting engineer by Mr J. Burnett, assistant engineer,. in charge of constructed railways in Canterbury, whose present position will' be filled by Mr Mac Andrew, of Wellington. Mr- A. Koch, of the Public Works Department, will probably become engineer-in-charge of the Wellington-Napier section of the railways.
The Stipendiary Magistrate sat till after six o'clock last evening dealing with claims for aid age pensions. The deputy-registrar was authirosed to issue pension certificates to the following:—Eliza. Sarah . Lightfoot, £2; Mary Jane Walsh, £12; Rebecca Thurston, £ 18; Emily Jane Bell, £ 18;^ Thomas Edward Bott, £18; Mary! Sinclair, £18; Elizabeth Mackune, .£__. The Pensions Court will sit again on Saturday.
