HUNTLY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

The. annual general meeting of the members and adherents of the Huntly Presbyterian Church was held iv the schoolroom on . Friday evening' last. Mr J. E. Ward, missionary, presiding. The usual routine business concluded, Mr Ward read his report for the year. It showed that no fewer than 210 regularly constituted services had been held at the different centres (12 in number) throughout the year; that visitation had been regular and frequent throughout the district; that the work done was honest', solid and highly appreciated; and that the Welcome accorded him was always hearty and sincere. A conspicuous feature in the report was the satisfactory nature of the work done among the Maoris. In connection with this mission, Mr Ward had distributed over SfOOO tracts, as well as a goodly number of copies of the Bible. The result was highly gratifying, and stimulated him to further exertions in this direction. An idea of the arduous nature of Mr Ward's labours can be formed when

it is stated, that in one week alone he was obliged to ride some 208 miles in the endeavour to overtake his ministerial duties.

The financial statement, as submitted by the Treasurer (Mr* Friar), showed a small credit balance after all liabilities had been met, ¥01* the building of the new church there were nearly £200 in hand, so that with a central site secured, the plans passed by the Presbytery and the specifications in process of completion, a few months should see the congregation worshipping in the new, church, which would be comparatively free from debt.

The following were elected as a Committee of Maangement for the ensuing year, viz.:—Messrs Elliot, Friar, Governor, Harry, McCaig, Nicholson, Shaw and Soppett, After some discussion it was unanimously decided to adopt the new hymnal. Votes of thanks to the members of the Ladies' Work Party, to Mr Shaw, choirmaster, to Miss Johnstone, orgariist. to the members of the choir, to Mr Cox, and to other workers, brought proceedings to a close.
