During a practice match between A and B teams here on Saturday last, Ernest Short, who was looked upon as a certainty for* the rep. team, had the misfortune to break his leg five minutes after the commencement of the game. . He was taking part in a forward rush, and collided with an opposing player. He is progressing favourably in'the Waikato Hospital.
