SOUTHERN TELEGRAMS.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, this day

At the City Council last night the Greater Wellington scheme was again considered. The Mayor favoured the inclusion of only a portion of the districts suggested, considering it inadvisable to take in Karori and portions of other boroughs which were not naturally accessible to the city. Several councillors took exception to the fact that the Boundaries Committee had supplied no financial data for the Council to work upon, and, after considerable discussion, the scheme was referred back to a committee for further consideration. The Miramar Estate, portions of which have of late been utilised as recreation grounds, so as to relieve the congested state of the grounds in the city, and which it was proposed a short time ago the city should acquire for a public park, has now been purchased by a private syndicate for the purpose of cutting up into building allotments. INVERCARGILL, this day. Southland exports from Bluff for the June quarter were the largest on record. They totalled £259,452, against £199,299 for same quarter in the previous year, an increase of £68, 153.
