TO-DAY'S WORK.
After reveille this morning, the various corps at Epsom paraded for company drill under their company officers. Captain Mclntosh (Onehunga Eifles) was brigade officer of the day, the subaltern of the day being Lieut.. Shaw; the No. 2 Native Rifles sux^plied the quarter-guard and piquets for the day, and the No. 2 Victoria Eifles furnished the rearguard. At 10.30 a.m. the No. 1 Battalion paraded, with haversacks and water bottles, for a day in the field. The No. 2 Eifle Battalion and the 'A' Battery and Mounted Eifles also paraded, and the troops took their lunches with them. The brigade was sent out in battalions for work'over the country which is to be skirmished over on Monday, to-day's field movements being practically a rehearsal for the sham-fight which is to take place on Monday, most likely in1 the direction of Orakei and Bastion Fort. The mounted rifle companies were sent out under Captain Eeid and Captain Coleman along the roads in the direction of St. John's College. The No. 2 Eifle Battalion was marched out by Major White towards Green Lane and Eemuera, while the No. 1 Battalion, under Major Murray ,took the route for Eemuera and Orakei road, with the idea of working down towards the water between the two other columns and skirmishing in the direction of an imaginary enemy approaching from seawards. Lieut.Colonel Shepherd (whom all old volunteers were glad to see once more on parade) was in command of the infantry forces
It is expected that the usual shamfight will commence early on Monday morning, and that a review of the brigade will be held in Potter's Paddock in the afternoon, at which His Excellency the Governor, who is by virtue of his office Commander-in-Chief of the New Zealand Forces, is expected to be present. This morning Colonel Pole-Penton and Lieut.-Colonel Banks inspected the volunteers in camp at the North Shore.

Church parade will be held to-mor-row morning, and the service will be conducted by Bishop Cowie, chaplain to the No. 1 Battalion. In the afternoon several of the companies will entertain their laSy friends and visitors to afternoon tea.#
