CANTERBURY J.C. AUTUMN MEETING.
The Autumn fixture of the Canterbury Jockey Club takes place on Easter Monday and Tuesday.
On the first day the Easter Handicap is the leading race. Seventeen have •made the final payment, so there is plenty of material for a surprise. With 8.8 Dundas reads a likely one, but the one which pleases me most isTortulla.
Mr Stead has Screw Gun, St. Ilario and Courtier engaged in the Cham-
pagne Stakes to oppose Glenogle and Scottish Minstrel. It would therefore look as if the 'boy in yellow' is likely to supply the first and second place in the classic contest. St. Ilario will probably .be a non-starter for the Champagne Stakes, as the son of St. Leger and Cissy should win the Russley Plate if he is as good as reported. The Great Autumn Handicap will be run on Tuesday. My fancy is DjinDjin. The Challenge Stakes is also run on the second day, when one of Mr Stead's team will no doubt get home from poor opposition. The final acceptances for the principal handicaps, including penalties, are as under:— GREAT EASTER HANDICAP of 500SOVS. Seven furlongs.
