THE PROPOSED GISBORNE RAILWAY.
(By Telegraph—Press Asaooiation.)
WELLINGTON, this day
During his tour on the East Coast the Hon. Jas. Carroll visited Motu, 50 miles inland and inspected a valuable forest, which if utilised will, he says, pay the whole cost of a light railway to Gisborne. The route presents few difficulties, and the soil is of excellent quality, producing heavy crops of clover*. Probably the question of the railway will be discussed next session.
