In the Exhibition awards Mr C. G. Laurie, of Newmarket, got first award for icing sugar, and Second award for conserves, candied peel, etc.; first award for eucalyptus drops ; first award for white peppermints. A slight error occurred in our notes of Saturday. Mr Malcolm Niccol, Chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, accompanied by MrM Laird, acting secretary, ' paid an official visit to the Italian warship Etna this morning, and was courteously received by the Captain. Captain Giovello said that on entering thep ort on Saturday he did not wish to take a pilot, and had no difficulty in working up what he described as 'your grand harbour.' He had previously visited the port, having been on the Christoforo Colombo when she came here in 187 S. Captain .Giovello was not surprised on knowing that Saturday afternoon was the Board's half holiday, that none of the officials visited the ship directly on her arrival. He was surprised, however, that he was not at once visited by the health officer, as at Suva, his last port of call they were particularly strict. The captain stated that while here he intended to obtain a supply of Westport coal. He had purchased some at Suva and considered it the best coal he had used for many years. Lieutenant Colonel Banks also visited tbe warship this morning. Captain Giovello has arranged to make his official visit to the' Mayor at 2 p.m. to-morrw. and the return visit will be paid on the following day. A paragraph in our morning contemporary states that the Mayor had visited the vessel yesterday, but this is incorrect.
