PUBLIC SCHOOLS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.

\ meeting of school teachers and others interested in the formation of a Public Schools' Amateur Athletic Association in this city was held last evening- at the room of the Amateur Sports Club. Mr Squirrell, chairman of the City Schools' Committee, presided. After the matter had been discussed the meeting decided io form an Association for the promotion, ot physical education in the public schools of Auckland. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr K. Hobbs (chairman of the Board of: Education); vice-patron, Mr D. Petrie, M \ (chief inspector of: schools); president, Mr 0. Squirrell (chairman of the City Schools Committee); vicepresidents, the members of the .Hoard of Education, inspectorial staff, chairmen of committees of affiliated schools and' the headmasters of affiliated schools; secretary, Mr P. J. Ohlson; assistant secretary, Mr S. H. Ferguson; treasurer, Mr Pluminer. Management Committee to consist of a olelega.te from each affiliated school, irrespective of ex officio members. The schools whose affiliation was vouched for at the meeting are:—Wellesleystreet, Beresfortl-.street, Na pier-street, Chapel-street, Nelson-street, Ponsonby, Richmond Road, Newton East, Newmarket, Devonport, E])som, Mt Eden, Onehunga

The secretaries and treasurer were instructed to draft a constitution to bo presented at another meeting uext Monday.
