THE TE ARO HOUSE CASE.

WELLINGTON, Friday. The trial of Craig, late manager of Te Aro House, on a charge of stealing two cheques, was continued to-day. Mr VV. H. Carter, partner iv Te Aro .House, who arrived from England on Monday, gave evidence. Craig, he said, was to got £500 a year from him, and commission on witness' profits. Craig could have drawn the latter so long as he entered it. If witness' account was made up he should be debited with about, £300 for Craig's commission. His Honor summed up strongly against Craig, and the jury retired at 5.20 p.m., but not having arrived at a verdict five hours later, they were locked up for the night. With respect co the fact elicited in tho evidence about the Te Aro House indebtedness to the Bank of New Zealand, the Bank otticials state that they hold ample security for the whole amount in the shape of aguarantee upon which more than £.'IO,OOO could be advanced with safety.
