! TO-MORROW'S GREAT FAIR AT i ELLERSLIE.

THE PROGRAMME OF ARRANGEMENTS.

I . ' With every promise of delightful springweather the Floral Fete under the auspices of the Auckland Ladies' Benevolent Society, which takes place at Ellershe Race-course to-morrow afternoon, should be a "-orgeous and brilliant spectacle. The arrangements to ensure success are now (complete. It is difficult to give our i ' readers an idea of the amount of trouble that has been taken for weeks past by hundreds of. willing workers in thinking out and preparing the exhibits, but the whole 1 reflects credit on all concerned. j j The Ellerslie racecourse and its pictur- j ' esaue surroundings, at all times beautiful, j ! have been further enhanced in beauty by the erection of a thousand and one devices, all of which have a bearing ;on the floral character of the fete, j I The" various tents are placed opposite j | the front of the grandstand, and include j ' the kiosks known as the May Pole, Japan- | ese, Vanity Fair, Cingalese, and Grafton \ Peasants. In the new enclosure will be : ! found the children's pets, and near the Steward's Stand the Jubilee kiosk, while at the back of what is known as the Derby Stand will be found the Remuera kiosk. The programme of events is as follows : i Children's procession, 2.0 p.m. ; trick j riding by Messrs Hendry and White, 2.15 ■ p.m. ; musical ride by Auckland OC. 5 2.30 p.m ; grand procession, 3.0 p.m. ; Gymk- j hana sports start at 3 o'clock; Auckland j Cycling Club races, 3.45 p.m. ; maypole ! dance, 4 o'clock; second grand procession and battle of {lowers, 5 o'clock. The judges are as follow:—J. W. Tibbs, steward; Messrs I. Alexander, D. Hay, C. A. Bruford, C. Baker, G. S. Goldsbro, T. Steadman, Signor Nerli, M. Jacka, F. Williamson, A. Hosking, N. M. Fripp, C. Arnold, Graves Aickin, G. Perrett, J. Douglas, T. J. Mulvaney, F. H. Templer, F. W. Edwards, A. Yates. The " Vanity Fair" kiosk, the erection of which has been in the hands of Mr Russell, general manager of the American Tobacco Company, will stand out as a distinct feature of the fair. No expense has j been spared by the Company towardsmak- j ing it a success, and tomorrow's display j will, we are sure, be favourably commented : upon on all sides. The" Vanity Fair" kiosk will be in charge of Mesdames I Edgecumbe, Barnett, and 18 young lady ■ attendants. !

The Japanese Kiosk, in the hands of Mesdames Leo Myers, lngall, and thirteen musimos, is a perfect picture, and both from an artistic and from a general point of view would be hard to improve upon

The Ponsonby Maypole Kiosk -will be under the supervision of Mesdames Masefield, Owen, Butler, Windsor, Hudson, Dufaur, Phillip, Sanderson, and eleven young ladies. The Parnell Jubilee Kiosk is a feature. It will be in charge of Mesdames Buck, B. Ireland, Thornes, Glenny, and Misses Lundon, Roskrudge, Mowbray, and eleven young ladies. The other kiosks are :— Remuera rjp-to-date—Ladies in charge : Mesdames Pritt, Morrin, Beatty, J. Russell, R. Browning, Sbera, Hardie, Ching, Bold, Ware, Mercer, A. Clark, MacMillan, Cotter, Bamford, Bank, McCullough, Bush, Cheeseman, and Miss Dargaville and sixteen young ladies. Graf ton European Peasants.—ln charge of Mesdames Smith, Hay, Lambourne, Baker, McCreedy, Dewsbury, Seecorabe, and Miss Rattray and ten young ladies. Young England.—Under supervision of Mesdames Stevens, Napier, Macky, Templar, Best, Mays, Keals, and thirteen young ladies. The Strawberry and Cream Kiosk will be under the supervision of Mrs J. L. Wilson, and the Toii'ee Kiosk will be attended by Mesdames Moore-Jones, and pupils. At "Floral New Zealand,1' under the Derby Staud, in charge of -Mrs McKean and six young ladies, wiil be found amongst other comforts for the inner man, home made bread and butter, scones and sandwiches, fruit, ice, cream, etc. Picnic parties can be supplied with jugs of tea. In the interests of cyclists who ride out to Ellerslie to-morrow an accommodation paddock for the safe custody of machines has been provided, the charge for the care of the machine being of a minimum character. The luncheon rooms will be open from 12, under management of Mr Thos. McEwin. THE PROGRAMME OF EVENTS. An attractively got up programme of events in book form has been prepared by Mr W. J. Gaudin. It will be obtainable on the streets and at Ellerslie to-morrow,

the price being sixpence. The programme has been printed at the " Star" Oflice, and reflects great credit on the printer. It will be well worth keeping as a souvenir of what promises to be the most gorgeous affair of its kind ever held in Australasia.

TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS. Trains will leave Auckland for the Racecourse every few minutes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., returning every 15 minutes from 3.30 to 7.30 p.m. Trains will leave Mount Eden for the Racecourse at 12 noon and 1 p.m., returning at 4.15 p.m., and as required. The ordinary train service between Auckland and Onehunsra will be suspended from 10.30 a.m. to 8.45 p.m. Pa.ssengers to and from Onelmnga will change trains at Pen rose. The 12J0 and 6.35 p.m. trains from Otahuhu to Auckland, and the 12.50, 5.20, and 6.20 p.m. trains from Auckland to Otahuhu, will not ran. To avoid the crush ladies and children are advised to leave Auckland with the early trains, and return not later than 4 o'clock. Return fare from Auckland, Newmarket, or Mount Eden: Is 6d, including admission to Fete; children under 12, half price. Fare Racecourse to Auckland, Is. In consequence of the ■heavytraffic anticipated 'at the Racecourse Station on account of the Floral Fete, Graham-street will be blocked by trains from 12 noon to 7 p.m. There will therefore be no thoroughfare to and from the Racecourse by way of Graham-street between those hours. Railway tickets for the Floral Fete can be obtainedat the booking office near the entrance gates of the railway-station from 5 o'clock till 9 o'clock this evening.
