LONDON, November 5
News from Lagos states that Governor McCallum has occupied Saki, the position evacuated by the French. The latter have occupied Kishi. Two of the Royal Niger Company's officers have reached Bendi, which has hitherto been unvisited. They found juju rites practised there in a worse form than those performed at Benin. The officers consider that Bendi is naturally the trade centre of this region, and suggest that an expedition should be despatched there.
