THAMES NEWS.
TIIAMKS, this day. At a meeting of the Thames Jockey Club last night, three tenders were received for control of the totalisator. Blomlield (who had the right last year), tendered at the same rate as previously ; Adams and Andrews, 9.} per cent, and half of the fractions ; Hayr and Co., !)g per cent, and half the fractions. A long discussion ensued, and eventually Bloinlield's tender was accepted, provided that it is as assumed, 9 per cent, and half of the fractions. It is considered likely that Mr W. Scott, Chairman of the Harbour Board, will contest the Mayoralty.. A.ROOSY. —The main work in hand is crosscutting to intersect the main reef, and so far very satisfactory work has been done. Twenty feet from starting point, a very promising looking leader of about one foot in thickness was met with, running parallel with the No. 2 reef, and will apparently in time junction with the No. 1 reef and should to every appearance improve the country greatly. The full distance now driven is about 30ft.
