Extension of the low level is still proceeding, a distance of 250 ft having been driven. The lode for that length has averaged ISm in width, and the ore contains fine minerals, but does not show gold, although encouraging prospects of free gold are obtained on roasting. This shows that the refractory nature of the ore makes ib unsuitable for treatment by the ordinary battery process.
