WAIPURU.

The ordinary general meeting of the Waipuru G.M. Company was held this afternoon at the office of Mr H. GilQUun, junior. Mr W. Gorrie (Chairman of directors) presided, The report stated that) the work of opening up the reefs in the property had been continued, and that on the whole there had been improvement) as to the value of the ore worked. Its was proposed to have small parcels of the ore tested, and it was hoped that the result would be such as would lead to the speedy completion of the sale of the company's property. The statement of accounts for the half year ending Dec. 31st, 1896, showed the total receipts to be £289 8a 7d, while the expenditure left a cash balance in hand of £8 18* 9d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The Chairman eaid there was erery reasonable prospect of the sale bain^ brought to a successful issue. The option under which the mine was being worked lasted until the end of next March.
