GREAT BARRIER.
A meeting of shareholders iD this Company will be held shortly to authorise tbe directors to dispose of the property, a very satisfactory offer having been received. EVENING STAR. The half-yearly meeting of shareholders in the Evening Sbav Goldmining Company waa held this afternoon ab Mr J. H. Harrison's office, Hobson's Buildings. Mr William Gorrio presided. The balancesheet presented showed a credit balance in bank of £496 Oa 4d. In addition to this the English people to whom the Company's property iB under offer, were, ib was stated expending £1,000 in putting in a low level tunnel. If they aro eatisfiod with tho results, they can hare an extension of time to expend another £1,000, if so desired, and if dissatisfied they will be at liberty to abandon negotiations. Besides tho directors' roporb, a copy of a lengthy report by Mr G. M. Steedman (who is acting on behalf of the syndicate to whom the proporty ia under option) to Mr Heather, the Syndicate's English representative was submitted to the meeting; The report dealt very fully with bhe company's prospects, and explained a scheme for testing the property with the view of bringing aboub developments thereon which would warranb tho recommendation* of a substantial working capital being provided.
