MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS,

Empkess.—Tha country has become very hard, bub is beautiful blue sandstone, thoroughly mineralised. A large flow of wator is coming from the face of.the drive. Invicta North.—Tho reef in both levels is looking pretty much the tame as when last roported. The manager hopes bo cut the big reef some timo this week.

Pukkwhau.—The main level has boon extended 18 feeb during the fortnight, and at every breaking down gold has been seen. The main level is now in 372 feet. On the north end of the tr.ino four leaders, one two inches thick, have been cub by the manager of the Native Chief, and another about nix inches thick. They ail show a libido gold. They wero cut in tha Pukewhau ground and run towards the Native Chiaf claim.

Southkrn Cross —The email leader has opened oub to about 10 inches and is looking very weil. The country in the main tunnel is looking splendid, Gkkat United, —The drive on No. 3 reef has been extended another 10 feet during tho week. Tho reef is 5 feeb wide and looks well for gold, a portion of it being highly mineralised, and the country ib is parsing through is all that could bo desired. Tho corifcractorn havo started driving for tbo Victoria lodo.

Bunkisk's Hill,—Since laefa report tho main drive has boen pushed ahead aboub 20 feet, and i 3 in splendid country with small mineral veins running through ib, and little bunchea of quart'/, are also making. Hakuour View.—Since lasb report the mulioeky leader has been prospected, but tho block could nob be worked without repairing tho levol throughout, which would bo expensive, and ib would be chojipor to work later on from the low level. Tho reef ut No. 4 level 13 six inchea thick, and carries dials prospects. In tho intermediate west Simpson's leader is 3in thick of well defined quartz coming round to tho hangmtf-wall. A cross-leader has been muu with easfc.

Golden Hill Extended.—At the low levels tho country is still of a good description for gold, bub up ko the present no lodes have boon cut. Work is still proceeding on the new leader.

Nkw Tokatka.—The low level ia in 413 feeb and tho reef now looks remarkably well, beinp; a fino solid body of ore fully 18 inches thick, which shows good prospects of strong colours of gold, and the manager consider* the ore is of good grade, with every indication of specimens nob being far distant. A stopo haa been started from tho winze. Tho reef in from 24 to 30 inches thick and looks splendid. In breaking down fully 20ib of good picked Htono wera obtained. Breaking down is not yet) finished, and the manager expects inoro specimen stone this time. Tho mine sever looked hotter than it does at tho present time. Invjota.—Tho cross cub at No. 1 level is passing through splendid country, and the loader has improved in consequence. Veins and stringers of quartz have been met with in the cross cue at No. 2level, which should indicato the proximity of some lode. There is a splendid body of stove in tho efeopes south, and isi No. 3 some shows fine gold.

MIDAS. —The manager telegraphed today:—" Have cut two feat into tho large roof at tho Midas low level. Am noc through. Ifc prospects ab loz per ton." The manager also reports that splendid progress has been made with the No. 1 crosscut, ik has cut through a small lender which carries nice gold in the loose rubble.

Golden Hill.—The leador in bhe drive south at. tho low level is 15 inches thick, and tho quartz coming to hand is of a kindly description, being solid and heavily minoralisod. Tho quartz shown colours vory freely, and a few strong dabs of gold. lit the drive north tho reel has also improved in eizo and quality, being now ttboufe 12 inchos thick, and showed gold when broken down.

Kapai-Vkrmont.—The reef in bhe main level south is 3 feeb thick, and gave prospects equal to 2oza per ton. All this ore goea to bho mill. A new rise has been i-tartad on the main level 118 foot south of tho main ore, or 96 feeb back from the present face. Hora the reof is 10 feet wide, and gives very good prospects, especially from tho foofcwail side. In the 6th stope the reef is 4 four feet thick, all of good quality. In tho third stope there ia 3 feet of good ore, and in No. 2 stope there is 5 feeb of good ore. Somo stoping is being carried on north of tbe main rise. Tho reef varies from 1 to 4 feat in thickness, all of which is treated, but a portion is low grade ore. Sbonß which is also payable bub nob rich ia corning bo hand from the exfcrome north-wesb end of the property. Tho mill and all in connection with ib are working well. Tho ore going through gives assay values from £3 15s to £4 10s per ton.

Moanataiari Extesded.—The manager telegraphed today : " Saw colours of gold in No. 9 reof ab the low level."

Big Ben.—No. 3 level is in 33ft, and fcho foobwall of quartz is now 2fb thick and isnoro compact. Silica and other minerals aro soon in fche stone.

Hadeaki No. 2.—The winzois down Safe through a splsndid elsies of country full ol mineral seams which are a good indication lor gold. Breaking down bakes place e;iri\ this week.

Welcome Find.—Tho iace of the drive t; 150 ft wast) from fcbo ongino shaft 26 of which has boon driven during the past fortnighf. The country is still highly mineralised, and most promising for gold. Another 80ft should intereecb the Jußfc in Timo No. 2 lodo if it maintaina Cho couree marked on the plan. Jotithr.—A loose formation of quartz about- six feob thick has been cub in the Golden City section. Prospecting is also going on near tho Try Flake boundary, and also in the Monpareil section. Try Fiujke.—ln tho Venus section the reef la from 9 to 12 inches thick, and gives,

■ fairly good prospects. The country ia improving in the eastern drive, and the raais&ger therefore hopes that the lode will open out. A fair amount of average ore is being obtained from the Mariposa seobion. There is no change in the ore coming bo hand from bha Try Fluke section. There are 2200z of amalgam on hand.

Adelaide. —The country in the shaft is nice clean sandstone. Some 30 or 40 foeb will require to bo driven to strike the cross reef.
