Hamilton, Thursday,

The many friends of Mr Cadman in 'Waikato are very glad to learn that he is progressing favourably. The meeting of the Kirikiriroa Road Board lapsed on Wednesday tor want of a quorum, Messrs Gordon (Chairman), and Chitby being the only members present. Four tenders were received for gravelling at North Ngaruawahia from the bridge to the bonemjll, Mr F. W. Li-tle.wood'e iender, ls o_d per yard, being accepted. Monday will bo observed _.s a general holiday by mosb of tho tradesmen in Hamilton. An excellenb display of fireworks was given in Mr N. R_ Cox's paddock last evening. Aboub £8 bad been collected by Mr Charlea Oox, with which a large aß3ortmenb of tockots, Roman candles, wheels, otc, aad been obtained. A large number of people were present, and the younger members especially had a stirring time of ib. The case Fawkes and Foxall came on again at the Magistrate's Courb this morning, and was adjourned till the 19-h inst,, on .which date tha drains will be visited. HOSPITAL BOARD MEETINO. The usual monthly meeting of the "Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held this morning. Messrs Primrose (Chairman), Chepmell, Hunt, Clarke, Gavin, Brown, Bach, Dey, J-lcGuirk, Smith, Teasdale, Furze and Susabs were present. In a long letter Messrs Seegner, Langguth and Co. explained thab when they agreed to allow the Board 15 per cent, discount it was only on surgical instruments and not on things coming under bhe head of sundries. The letter mentioned a communication reEeived from Dr. Kenny of which the Bqard Jknew nothing, and tha Secretary was instructed to obtain a copy of the communication referred to and bring it before the Hoard ab nexb meeting. The Secretary said this would be the lasb meeting of the presenb Board for the yoar, and he thanked bhe members for the kind manner in which they had treated him. The number of patients treated in the institution thia year was 233, aa against 215 lasb year; while bhp number of deaths this year was 13, againsb 21 lasb year. He paid a very high compliment to Dr. Kenny for the many critical operations he had performed in such a satisfactory manner, and considered the district was very lucky in iaving the services of so able a surgeon. Mr Kusaba called attention to the number of patients who were broughb to the institution in a dying condition. This he did nob consider fair to the doctor. He suggested that the doctor be empowered to refuse admission to such cases, but his suggestion did nob find favour with the other .members of the Board. Accounts amounting to £84 were passed for payment. The cash in the Bank was stated to be £462 lis Id, and the contributions to be received £794 14a, a total of £1,257 5a Id.
