CAMBRIDGE NOTES,
Cambridge, Friday,
About 5.30 p.m. last evening the Secretary of the Postal Dopartmenb, telegraphed that the holiday would bo observed on Monday, instead of Saburday. Tne business people of the town are very indignant, and this morning the Mayor sent the following wire to tho Po3bal Deparbmenb :—" On tho strength of Saturday being announced as the public holiday for the Posb Office here, business people also decided to close on thab day. Now we learn thab it is proposed to change the holiday, bub I hope you will adhere to Saburday so far aa Cambridge is concerned, and prevent incon.enience. Tho stores will have bo close, as the statutory holiday was nob observed this Nveek, and it has heen advertised that the .^holiday will be held on Saturday."
A meebing of the Domain Board was ield on Thursday, when ib was resolved to convert tho old gravel pit in the lake reserve into a lawn tonnia ground and bowling green, with a handsome roseary 150 feet long on the north-eaab side of ib. The cosb will be upwards of £100, and tho work has been entrusted to Mr Pnrdie, landscape gardener of Northcote.
