CHARITABLE AID.
AH EXPLANATION,
At the ordinary meeting of .the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board this afternoon, the Chairman stated that ab lasb meebing of the City Council it bad been stated that £700 had beep takon by the Board for maintenance out of the capital accounb. The explanation was simply this : By sodoingblie Board saved 2 per cent on what they paid to the capital accounb, and whab they would have had to pay on the overdraft, 5 and 7 per cent respectively. JVlr Gordon complained that none of the City Council members on the Board had given this explanation. Mr Stitchbury said there had been bo much blackguarding going on at the Council on Thursday night, thab he Himself had felt too ashamed to say anything.
