CLUB MATCHES.
Most of bhe clubs have their mabches well advanced.. EDEN' AND EPSOM. On the above lawn on Saturday afternoon the Gentlomen's Handicap Singles were played off, and excited a great amount of interest. The matches were decided on the besb of 17 games, and so close were the scores in many instances that the whole 17 games were played. Although an early start was made, the final,.in which Professor Egerton and Mr Mcintosh meet, yet remains to be played. Ib has been arranged bo conbesb bhis match on Thursday next, and a good game should result. PARNELL LAWN. Miss Mowbray and Mrs Ruck gave their annual " At Home " on bhe Parnell lawn on Saburday afternoon,, when there was a large attendance. The Parnellites are very slow in getting bheir mabches off, and an efforb should be made by! the Committee to finish the season as quickly as possible as the lawns require a long rest if they are to be in good order nexb season. On Saturday one of bhe Combined Double matches was contested, when Miss Rich and Mr Rich (scratch) beat Miss Vori Stunner and Mr Pollen (owe _ 30), after a good game, the scores being: 6—5, 6—4. WEST END. ■'. The matches on the Wesb End lawn .are exciting considerable interest, and all are keenly contested. The matches played last week resulted as follows: — Ladies' Championship Singles: Mrs Newell beat Miss Upton, 6—3, 6—3. Miss F. Billington beat Miss Caldwell, 6—5, 6—4. Gents' Championship Singles : A.-.H. Brabant beab A. E. Habton, 6—2, 6—l, 6—2. A. G. Cooke beat H. Genbles, 6—o, 6—l, 6—l. J. Paterson beab A. Goldie, 6—4, I—6, 6—l, 6-3. .
The match between Goldie and Patersbn was especially well fought out?, tho losing man many times pressing his opponent hard. Mr Gentles was playing anything bub iv his usualform in his mabeh.
Men's Handicap Singles : J. Caldwell (owes 10) beat M. A. Carr (receives 15), 75—50. A. H. Brabanb (owes 25) beab J. Baterson (owes 25), 75—69. Combined Handicap Doubles ..-.Miss F. Billingbon and Mr J. Smith (scratch) beab Miss Greatbach arid Mr A. H. Brabanb (owe 5), 60—53. Miss Russell and Mr J. Patorson (owe 30) beab Miss Billington and Mr J. Caldwell (owo 10),. 60 — 58. Ladies' Handicap Singles : Miss Edwards (receives 25) beab Mrs Jones (receives 20), 75—64. In bhe final round, Mrs Genbles (scratch) boat Miss Edwards (receives 25), 75 — 50. Mrs Genbles is thus the winner of the Ladies' Handicap Singles.
