MOUNT EDEN FIRE BRIGADE.
Last evening, a very well attended and highly-eucceßsful concert waß given in St. Sepulchre's schoolroom, Symonds-street, in aid of the funds of the Mount Eden Volunteer Fire Brigade. The occasion :was the fifth annual concert given by the Brigade, and in spite of the wet weather the building was crowded. Dr. E. Kdberfcon, honorary surgeon, presided, and Mr Hooton accompanied the performers,, on the piano. The first part of the programme was opened by the Misses Webb who played a pianoforte duet. Mr Menzies sang " The Friar of Orders Gray," Miss Davis contributed a song, "The Last Milestone," a vocal dueb was given by Miss Grindrod and Mr Walton ; Mr Peace sang " Angels at the Window." Alisa Alice Rimmer, who waa enthusiastically received, sang " The Holy City " and " Consider the Lilies," with her customary success. Miss Freda Maraden was amongst those who contributed to the programme, her two violin solos being highly appreciated, Mr Parish sang "The Admiral's Broom," and Miss Lizzie Warren sang •• The Carnival" most effectively. Two songs were given by Miss Birdie Butler, and vocal nelections were also contributed by Mr H. Fort, Mrs and Mica Maxwell, Misa Roderick and by Mr Good, who gave two songs " A Soldier and a Man," and " Marguerite." Recitatations were given by Miss Grindrod, Misa Kuth Jonos and Mr G. Martin. During an interval in the programme, Dr. Roberton, the Chairman, wits presented by the Brigade with a certificate of the United Fire Brigades, in recognitiou of his having been over four years honorary surgeon of the Brigade. The concert throughout was a very pleasing one, and every item on the lengthy programme was well received.
