BOARD OF EDUCATION.

A meeting of the Executive Commibteo of the Board of Education was held this afternoon. Present: Mr R. Udy (in the chair), and Messrs Luke, Muir, Wilding, Lambe ( and the Rev. J. Bates.

New Member.—The Chairman welcomed Mr Woodward, the newly-elected member, to a seat on tho Board. Mr Woodward acknowledged theccmpliment. Tenders.—Three tenders were received for improvements to school building ab Totara, as follows : G. Garton, £99 10s; J. Swanson, £141 - E. Wrigley, £143.—Mr Garton's tender was accepted.

Rotorua School.—The sum of £7 was granted for extra painting at) Roborua School.

VVairoa South.—Messrs Walsh and Forbeß, of Wairoa South, who save a site for a school in tho district attended and formally transferred the site to the Board.

Pabnell School.—Two communications were read from Harold Blackman, second assistant sf the Parnell school, written to the Chairman and Secretary, calling attention to the absolute neceasity for a teacher to be sent to Parnell school in the place of Miss Darby, who had now been away three weeks seriously ill. For the last) three weeks ho had had charge of Standard 111. boys and also of Standard 111. girls. The writer added that he would be unable to Btand. the strain much longer of continual overwork and a break down in his health would be imminent. —Mr Leonard, the headmaster, wrote that he knew nothing of the letters sent by Mr Blackraan to Mr Udy and Mr Rice until after they were posted. Since Miss Darby's absence he had rendered all the assistance he was able to give to Mr Blackman. Mr Leonard concluded by stating thab ho could nob help regarding the sonding of thaae lettere aaa piece of impertinence on Mr Blackman's parfc.—The Committee agreed to call Mr Blackman's attention to the irregularity of sending such communications.
