SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP OF WELLINGTON.

Wellington, thia day. The race for the Amateur Swimming Championship of Wellington, over a distance of 200 yards, under the auspices of tho Wellington Rowing Club, was decided last evening. There were five competitors, including H. H. Dacre (of the Auckland Swimming Club) and R. J. Grimmett (of the St. Clair Swimming Club, Dunedin). The race resolved itself into a great struggle between the two visitors, who wore on level terms for the whole distance. Grimmett finished aboub a foot in front of Dacre, but as the former was considerably out of the course he was disqualified, and the first place awarded to the Auckland man, who swam with excellenb judgment. R. C. Ronner (Oriental Boating Club), bhe nexb man, was aboub five yards behind.
