A NOTHER BURGLARY.
Last week, the premises of Mr J. Jones* auctioneer, situated in -Queen-street, opposite the Auckland Sayings Bank, were burglariously entered, although the thief or thieves secured very little plunder. An entrance was effected into the store through the v cellar in Elliott • street, and the floor of the business premises proper was gained by means of a trap-door. An attempt was made to open the office safe, but this receptacle resisted all efforts, and its content! had to be abandoned. Several silver watches, which had been lodged for disposal, were Btolen, but some silver which had been carelessly placed under a lamp stand was not discovered, and was found in its place in the morning. The police have been prosecuting inquiries into the affair, but so far have no clue to the person or persons who committed the robbery. The articles stolen were not rery valuable.
