CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

Messrs J. Bollard, J. Swales, J. MeCabe, S. Ambury, J. Gordon, A. Bruce, J. J. Holland- A. Glover and J. M. Lennox attended the ordinary meeting of the Hos- • pital and Charitable Aid Board yesterdayafternoon. Chairman.—Tho resignation of Mr P. | Dignau, on account of ill-hoalth, was received and accepted with regret, a vote oi" thanks being tendered for past sorvicos. Mr John Bollard was then elected Chairman. Hospital,—The House Surgeon roport'oil that there were 62 males and 28 females ab present in tho institution. Tho report oi tho Houso Cotnmitteo was adopted as follows :—" Fire practieo : A code of rules to bo observed in case of fire baa been prepared, and will be printed for exhibition throughout the Hospital. Ambulance : The 'Jommittoo recommend that thn contributions oiitired by the Sb. John Ambulance Association towards the purchase of a, new ambulance bo accepted ; that subsidy upon the same be claimed, and that v new vehicle upon the moao improved principle;' be obtained, provided that its cost to the Board does nob exceed tho sum required to alter the old ambulance, viz., £30; the Sl".. John Ainbulanco Association to be allowed to use tho vshiclo for practice, under arrangements to be made by tho House Committee. Accounts : The accounts for the month of September, £326 10s, have been examined and rocommended for pay men b." Elections. —The election of new members of the Board takes places on the 22nd of November. Ambulance Carriage.—Messrs Gordon, Ambury, Bruce and Holland, wore apopinted to confer with St. John Ambulance Association with reference to tho do-, signing and purchasing of an ambulance carriage The Committee appointed by the Association consists of Dr. Dawson, Messrs J. Barber, E. Bartley, J. J. Roach, and C. J. Tunks. Costley Home.—The manager, Mr Moss, reported that there were 121 males and 40 femalos in bhe Homo at date.
