BOARD OF EDUCATION.
This afternoon the executive meeting of the Auckland Board of Education was held in the Board's offices, and was attended by Messrs K. Udy (chairman), J. Muir, W. Lambe, and H. Wilding. The following public school statistics tor Auckland district for tho last qunrror wore submitted :—Number of schools (including 20 half-time schools), 303 (increase of 4); number of tescliers, 279 male and 416 female, total, 695 ; scholars on roll, 12,491 boya, 11.948 girls, total 24,439; total docrease of 31; average attendance, 9,345 boya and 8,705 girls; total 18,050 (total decrease from last quarter of 1,397 scholar*). . The Board considered o number of confidential reports from headmasters regarding the work of pupil-teachers.
