CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

There was a large abtendance ab the fortnightly social of the Caledonian Society, held last nighb in the Foresters' Hall, Karangahape Road. Mr D. Simpson prosided, and during the evening announced that ib was proposed to start an orchestra class in connection with tho Society. The concert programme was an unusually good one. Mr R. Davis rendered " Alice, Where Art Thou ?" in a very acceptable manner, his voice suiting the song. Mrs W. J. Wright is always a favourite in Caledonian circles, and sho was encored for her singing of " Bonnie Prince Charlie." Quito a novelty was introduced by W. and C. Marson in the shape of a whistling duet. This took immensely. Mr Menzies sang "I Fear no Foe" in a finished manner, and Captain Robertson's recitation was much appreciated. Miss Agnes Johnson was heartily encored lor her sword dance, and a treble sailor's hornpipe by Miss Agne3 Johnston and Messrs Geo. Johnston and McLean, was danced wibh grace and precision. Miss Darmar, a sailor named Quinn belonging toH.M.s. Tauranga, and Mr Marson also contributed songs, while the Misses Johnston played a piano selection in good style. Master Chas. Johnston's Highland Fling gained great applause. Mr England played the accompaniments. A dance followed tho concert, Mr D. Simpson making an efficient M.C.
