CRICKET.

A most interesting cricket match wae played on tho Domain yesterday between teams representing the South British and New Zealand Insurance Companies. The frame resulted in a tie, both teams having 112 runs at the end of the second inning*. The finish was very exciting, South British having only three rune to make to win with three wickets to fall. Several trophic? were won in the match. Mi Lawry won Mr Warwick Weston's trophy on the New Zealand side. The opening concert in connection with the Pitt-street Wesleyan Mutual Improvement Society took place last night, and proved a great success. Rev. J. Berry, President of the Society, occupied the chair. The following programme was gone through very creditably : — Piano dueb, Misses Wieeman and Marfcyn ; song, Mrs Prosser; recitation, Mr Forbes; song, Mr Jones; piano solo, Professor Dβ Arcy; organ solo, Professor Lambert; song, Miss Buckland; violin solo, Miss Peak ; reading, Mr MeMaster; vocal duet, Misses Blackburn and Marbrook ; reading, Mr Patterson ; song, Mr Johnson ; piano solo, Miss Taylor; song, Miss Caley : recitation, Mr H. Watkin, and song, Mr T. Caley. During the evening Mr S. J. Ainbury, on behalf of the Society, read an address of welcome to the President. Rev. J. Berry responded in a few words, expressing the pleasure it gave him to take part in any work for the young, and his willingness to help the Society in any way.
