GORED BY A BULL.
Mr Joseph Byeks, who is well-known in connection with cattle dealing, met with a serious accident on Tuesday last. He had been engaged with others landing a wild mob of cattle from a punt in Orakei Bay, when one of the bulls gob away and ran into Buckland's paddock. Byers jrofc mounted on horseback, and ran after it, endeavouring to stop the animal ab a water race, but ib turned eavagely on him, with the result that both rider and horse were knocked down. Tho bull was in such an excited state that it died a few minutes afterwards. Byers was picked up and removed to a friend's house, where he was subsequently attended by Dr. Coom, who on examination pronounced that he was internally injured. Lust night Byers was removed to his residence on a stretcher, and his medical adviser states tho case is a serious one.
