(Before Dr. J. Giles, R.M.) UNDEFENDED CASES.

Judgment was given for the plaintiffs in the following undefended cases :—W. R. Cook v. A. Wilson, claim £1 ; James Rae v. John Petere, claim £3 10s ; Am bury and English v. George Brake, claim £2 Is 2d ; Buckland and Co. v. Davies, claim £13 2s 3d (credit being given for £13 2s 3d paid into Court, coats £3 being allowed) ; Wilson v. Dixori, claim £9 l()s ; Murchie v Williamson, claitn £11 12a 6d. DEFENDED CASES. Charles Arthur Naden v. R. J* Duncan.—Claim for £6 aa wajjea as clerk and messenger at 10e per day.—Mr Lusk appeared for the defendant, and as no one was present on behalf of the plaintiff the case vras struck out with costs. A Small Claim. —Thomas Brown v. Mrs Eliza Stephens.—This was a claim for 7a as value for one shirt alleged to have been given by plaintiff to defendant for the purpose of being washed ; and not returned with the other articles. Mr E. Mahony appeared for tho plautill" and E. Cooper for the defendant.—The plaintiff deposed t'.iafc his shirt was a nevr one, worth 7s. He had not got the shirt back with the other things he lofb at the laundry.—Defendant deposed that plaintiff had lofb the article* to be washed, but there was nob a new shirt amongsb them. Sho gave him a wrong shirt by mistake. He returned that dirty, .•indslie nowhudhisoldshirt in her possession and was prepared to give it f.-o him had he called again when he stated he would. She would sooner have given him a now shirt than have had this trouble. She had been to take his shirt to him, but could not find defendant's residence. Witness produced a shirt which plaintiff declared was nob tbe one in dispute. — Bridget Taylor deposed that ahe washed for Airs Stephens. The shirfi produced was the one given by Mrs Stephens to her. She markod it with black cotton.—Plaintiff was recalled, and denied any knowledge of the shirt produced.—Dr. Giles said that tho plaintiff was entitled bo judgment in any case, as the mistake was on the defendant's part. He therefore gave judgment for j luintitT with coats 16s 6d.
