THE S.S. PAKEHA.
A cable message from Sydney to-day informs us that the new cargo steamer Pakeha, of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's line, left Sydney yesterday for Auckland in continuation of her_ maiden voyage from London. The Pakeha is a new vessel, built for Shaw Savill's line by Blair and Co., of Stockton, who have turned out a fine steamer not only admirably adapted to the transport of cargo, but fitted with one of the finest refrigerating engines afloaS. Her freezing cargo holds are capable of carrying 54,000 carcases of sheep in addition to 10,000 bales of wool. She has made very good work on the outward voyage, having kept up an average of nearly 10 knots, on a consumption of 22 tons per day, and this with over 4,000 tons of mixed cargo.
