CARPENTERS AND JOINERS.
Last evening a general meeting of members of' the Auckland Carpenters' and Joiners' Union was held in Robson's Rooms, ,Queen-Btree., for tho purpose of adopting rules and electing officers for the ensuing ye**- Mr Twdebope presided. There was $ rather small attendance. A set of rulewas submitted and agreed to. The meeting then elected the following officers tor the ensuing term: President, Mr W. Rose; secretary, Mr Probert; treasurer, Mr Casely; committee, Messrs Peat, Coad, Arnold and Barton ; and three trustees. On the motion of Mr Rose a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring • office.B, president, secretary, treasurer, and other of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners, for their earnest and valuable services on behalf of the Union. ' Both the mover and the Chairman, in replying,.egret.ed the fact that the carpentiers and joiners of Auckland generally had shown such apathy in the formation of their "'trhde union. The newly-elected officers then took their seats, and the ordinary business meeting of the Union was proceeded with. j .
