ST. JOSEPH'S SCHOOL.

The distribution of prizes to the children of Sfc. Joseph's School also took place this morning. His Lordship Bishop Luck presented the prizes, and in doing so complimented the pupils very highly on the excellent progress they had made, and the Sisters for the evident painstaking care with which they had carried on the work of instruction. There was a full attendance of the children, and also of friends. A musical and miscellaneous entertainment was given by the pupils, the appended items being extremely well rendered :—Address, Katie Rist; "Words of "Welcome," Annie O'Meara ; recitation, " The Dead Doll," Lizzie Stafford ; song and chorus, " Beautiful Bird ;" recitation, " Erin's Flag," M. Rist, recitation, " May Day," Annie Grubb; chorus and recitation, "The Exile," Bella Stephenson; recitation, " People Will Talk," Bridget Risfc ; song and chorus, "The Wishing Cap." A "Rural Fairy Scene" was depicted by the children, the king being Winnie Scares; queen, Bridget Rist; Hollyhock, Mary Thompson ; Mr Grumps, Rose Keenan. A recitation, " A Woman's Rights," by Mary Knox ; another, " Christmas Greetings," by Margaret O'Meara; and a chorus, " Christmas Carol," closed the programme. Some very pretty tableaux vivants filled a place in the programme. Hia Lordship then distributed the girls , prizes as follows:— Standard V. ; —Religious knowledge, tory and grammar, Katie Rist and .Bridget Rist; reading, Rose Keenan and Mary Rist; writing and mapping, Winnie Soares. Standard IV.—Writing and recitation, Margaret O'Meara; needlework, Jane Hugill. Standard IJL— Religious knowledge and amiability, A. O'Meara, Katie O'Neille, Gertrude Evans; arithmetic, grammar, and geography, B. Stephenson, Mary Thompson, Julia, Rist, Mary Knox ; neatnes3, Hilda O'Hare, Mary Watts ; general improvement, Sarah Kelly, Bella Molloy, Mary Anne Belle, Annie Grace, Eva Long.

Standard ll.—Attendance and home Igssops, M. Stitfc, Tanny McAneany, Annie Grubb; attendance and history, Nellie Donovan, MaudieDonovan, AgnestO'Meara; orthography, Lizzie Stafibrd, Mabel Moore; arithmetic, Mary Sullivan; general improvement, Jane McKenna, Maggie Waite, Harriet Mellor, Annie Henderson, Mary •Lake, Christina Howard, Mary McAneaney, Tottie Graham, and Mary Finlay. A special prize, presented by Rev. T. Hackett for good conduct, was awarded to i Mary Thompson. The prizes awarded to those who passed with honours were given to Katie Rist, Julia Rist, Bella Sfcephenson, Annie O'Meara and Maud Donovan.
