' Reception of Giels.—The Board went into committee to consider a letter from Mr C. F. Bourne on the question of receiving girls into the Grammar School, and eventually the following motions were carried with reference to the subject :— " (1) That lady teachers should, not be employed to teach boys; (2) that the two sexes should not be taught in the same class; (3) that the Chairman confer with Mr Bourne as to certain arrangements for teaching girls at the Grammar School." Extension of Engagements. — Miss Richardson, teacher of sewing and fancy wprk in the Girls' High School, wrote asking to be employed until the end of the year.—Granted. Fkee Tuition. — The Secretary to the Board of Education wrote asking that the following pupils be granted free tuition for their respective terms :—J. A. Norrie, J. Robb, Margaret Bell, Agnes Briton, Annie E. J. Hill, and Frances J. Garland. — Granted.

Wbiting Mastee.—Mr A. M. Huxtable wrote offering his services as writing master to the Board.—lt was resolved to inform Mr Huxtable thab bhe Board, having already a Writing master in its employ, could not see its way to engage another. SuRKENDRRiNG Lease.— Thos. Wearing, Remuera, wrote asking to be allowed to give up his 7 years' Ifease of laud belonging to the Board, having lost a considerable sum of money over it.—Referred1 to Property Committee with power to act. Accounts. —The current accounts were passed for payment. University Examinations. —On the motion of Rev. CM. Nelson, it was resolved that the Committee pay for the cost of room in tho Grammar School if it be asked for the purpose of holding the .Cambridge Local Examination in December next.
