The Hikutaia Goldfield.
RESULT OF THE TEST.
Messrs Fraser and Son have concluded their first test of half-a-ton of quartz from the Maritote licensed holding, Hikutaia. Tho result is 32 ounces of bullion worth 5s 8d per ounce, tho value of tho ore being thus £18 per ton. The pan amalgation process docs not seem suitable for the treatment of the Hikutaia ore as this result is only 50 por cent, of Messrs Fraser's own assays. Mr (!eo. Fraser, junr., is now testing 5 cwt of the quartz by a chlorinization process.
