WAITEMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

A special meeting, of the members of the above body was held at 1 p.m. to-day, when Messrs O. Maya (chairman), Laing, Cantwell, Lloyd, McLeod, Smyth, Monk, Allison, and Sinclair were present.

Woodhill Road. — The chairman moved, " That the Woodhill Road Board and the Waioneke Road Board be dissolved, andbothdisfcricts be merged in the county." This was adopted, after which tho ordinary meeting was held. Statement of Accounts.—The Chairman read tlio monthly statement as follows: Rates received during month, L 59 5s lid : from licenses, L 240: total receipts, L 279 5s lid. Balance due to bank, L 798 5s lid ; accounts payable, L 333 5s 7d : total debit, L 991 10s lOd.

General Rates. —'Tho Chairman then formally moved the following motion: — " Notice is hereby given that it is the intention of the Waitemata County Council to make and levy a separate rate of three farthings in the pound upon all the ratable property in Die Takapuna, Wciti, and Ararimu Ridings; to make and levy a separate rate of four farthings in the pound upon all tho ratable property in the Waitakorei Riding; and to. make and levy a separate rate of six farthings in the pound upon all .ho ratable property in the Manukau and Waikomiti Ridings, the said separate rates for each of tho said Ridings to. bo for the yoar commencing on tho Ist clay of April, 1887, and ending on tho 31st day of March, ISSS, and to bo payable in one instalment on the 2nd day of August, 18.7, at tho office of the Council, Palmerston Buildings, Auckland.' 1 - The motion was adopted. —The chairman stated that 3,400 rate notices had boon prepared ready for issue forthwith. Whau Bridge.—Tho following tenders were received for the repairs to the Whau Bridge. Stewart and Bentham, L575s ; J. J. Marshall, L 57 9s; W. Forsaith, L 52 10s ; Hay and Wright, LSO 10s ; Newborn and Young, LG7 los; Abraham Martin, L7G 10s ; Sam White, L 42 10s ; R, Hill, L4o. Engineer's estimate, L 39 10s Cd. Sam White's tender was accepted. Waimauku Road.—The Chairman stated that no tenders had been received for the proposed works on the Wainiauku.

Rates ox Chows Lands. - A voucher was read from tlio Property Tax Department stating that Llßl rates on Crown Lands had been placed to tho credit of tho Council.

Hill's Contract.—A report of the Engineer upon Hill's contract was read, also a letter from Mr Hill, after which it was resolved that Mr Hill's contract be paid.

Lucas's Creek.—The Chairman said that he had seen Messrs Cowley and Volkner, and settled the dispute near Lucas's Creek. —It was resolved to get the land for the road formally conveyed to the Council. • Auarimu.— It was resolved to expend LIO in the purphnee of 2 acres of land from Mi J-l.tifc: '«. gurpose of improving the Ararimu Kfiukupviva'/.a road.

Wade Reserve.-A memorandum was received from the Commissioners of Crown Lands, Mr D. A. Tolo, stating that steps would be taken to convey the landing preserve, on the Wade E iver, to the Council. — Tho letter was received with thanks.

Macky's Road.—A letter was read from Mr Macky, objecting to tho Council making a road through his land at Titirangi.—lt was resolved that consideration of the matter bo deferred until the Assistant Surveyor-General had reported upon the road.

Big Muddy Creek Road.—The chairman reminded the Council that they had decided to adopt what was known as Bee-ham's deviations on this road, and had left open tho question of making a road to Mr Laing. Ho then read a report furnished by the Engineer, which recommended that no works should be done on this line until tho summer. It was resolved that tho Engineer and Cr. Laing should go overthelines and that the Engineer should report upon tho probable cost of forming the road along Martins line from York to tlio two bridges on tho New Lynn Huia Road and also to make an estimate of the cost of improving the present line of road.
