North Auckland Railways.
. Mr Dargaville, who has been in Wellington for some days arranging matters fn connection with the Kaihu Valley Railway, leaves for Auckland this afternoon. He informs me that he has been urging upon the Government the desirability of letting another section of ■ the Kaipara E ailway , north of, Kaukapakapa, to which place the contract is already in progress. He has been assured that the surveys are being'made with all despatch, arid that tenders will-be called as soon as possible out of .the vote of L 70,000 which was made the session before last. The Proposed * Police Changes. Inspector Shearman has not yet decided whether or not to accept the proffered charge of Auckland police district.
