Newmarket

The loyal citizens of the borough of Newmarket have decided to " Juble " on their own account to-night, in order that the festivities may not clash with the Jubilee rejoicings in the city to-morrow. Mr J. A. Wilson and others have made an active canvas of the residents, and collected a considerable sum of money to be expended on a pyrotechnic display. The Newmarket and Parnell Fire Brigade and the Newmarket Brass Band will assemble at the Newmarket Fire Brigade Station at 7.30, and from thenco will march in procession through the principal streets of the Borough, each man in the procession bearing a torch.; The procession over, they will return to the reserve at the corner of Manukau Road and Kyber Pass, where a grand pyrotechnic display will take place under the direction of Captain Hannigan,' of the Newmarket Fire Brigade. The royal monogram in letters, of fire will also be displayed and there will be a unique display of illuminated water. The spectacle will, no doubt, attract a large ' concourse of visitors. We may add that Messrs Randall and Angus and Mr Whisker, plumbers,; have largely contributed to the arrangements for the fete. Panmure. One of those social gatherings for which Panmure is remarkable will take place in the Hall to-morrow (Jubilee) night under the patronage and presence of Monsignor McDonald. The pupils of St. Patrick's school and a number of kind friends will give their valuable assistance on the occasion. The evening promises to be an unqualified success.
