THE RULE OF THE ROAD.
A correspondent writes :—
" Tho rulo of tho footpath is as clear as the day, So that none can its reason withstand : Each side of the way •you must keep to the right, And give all you meet the left hand." The Town Clerk, however, in his wisdom reverses this rule, as ho gives orders that in going down Queenrstreet pedestrians are to keep on the western or left-hand side instead of the right-hand side ; and in coming up Queen-street from the wharf, people ai'e required to keep the eastern side, while according to the rule of the footpath people should go down Queen-street on Morrin's side, and come up from the wharf on Buckland's side of the street. But perhaps the Town Clerk is left-handed.
