(BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT).
Tauranua, this day. The Government steamer Hinemoa arrived at 11 o'clock. She biings about 100 tops of stuff for the Rotoiua natives. A .number of people landed from the steamer at White Island and walked across the bed of the lake — the water having disappeared. They spent some time examining different parts of the island, and found the principal scene of activity in the north-west portion, where steam holes are to be seen fuming at a great rate. The aspect of the island is changed to a considerable extent, and, according to the reports, it ia bardly tho place where one would care to sojourn for long.
