Wellington, this day. Wellington Claims Against tho Govern, ment.
The Wellington Harbour Eoard have decided not to accept an offer of the Government to give them two sections of reclaimed land and allow them to reclaim a portion of the foreshore near the Railway Wharf in satisfaction of their claim for compensation for land token for the purpose of a site for tho Government Printing Office. The sections '-jumped" by the Government are valued at £19,000, while the land offered as compensation is not worth one-half that amount. The Harbour Board consider that if they hold out until next session a far better arrangement will be come to. The long-stand-ing dispute between the Harbour Board and City Council in reference to the reclamation of Te Aro foreshore is likely to be settled before long. The Council intend to re-open the question at the next meeting, and the boird has deferred the consideration of a proposal to seek legislative sanction for certain works on the foreshore until the Council have again considered the Board's proposals. Some of the guns v ill be mounted at Lyttelton, Oamaru, and Timaru, but their distribution has not yet been decided. Old Soldiers' Claims. The Hon.
